星空传媒视频 recognized nursing instructor and alumna Macey Batie as the recipient of the 2025 Tangeman Award for Teaching Excellence during the college鈥檚 60th commencement ceremony at the Colby Event Center on May 16.
The Tangeman Award was established in 1988 and named after the school鈥檚 second president, Dr. James Tangeman, who served at CCC from 1972 to 1988. Each year, the selection is made by previous recipients and current CCC students.
Batie has been a full-time nursing instructor at CCC since 2022 after transitioning from her previous role as a clinical instructor, a position she held for four years. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from 星空传媒视频.
鈥淚 absolutely love being a nursing instructor because it allows me to inspire and
guide the next generation of compassionate, skilled healthcare professionals,鈥 Batie
said. 鈥淭here鈥檚 nothing more rewarding than watching students grow in confidence and
competence, knowing that the knowledge and support I provide today will impact countless
lives tomorrow. I鈥檓 so thankful to the faculty I work with for making it all possible,
especially Rikki Wait.鈥
Throughout her career, Batie has demonstrated a passion for geriatric care and is wound care certified. In addition to her work in outpatient settings and risk management, she continues to serve in local nursing homes. Even as a student, she was committed to helping others and often tutored her peers.
Originally from Dodge City and having also lived in Garden City, Batie now resides in Colby with her husband, Shane, and their two sons, Brayden (8) and Carson (6). When she鈥檚 not teaching or working in the community, she enjoys spending time with her children, planting flowers, and reading books.
Whether at home or at work, Batie approaches life with one philosophy.
"As a teacher, a nurse, and a mom, my greatest hope is to make this world a better place through kindness, knowledge, and care. In the classroom, I strive to empower future nurses with the tools and confidence they need to make a difference. At the bedside, I offer compassion and healing to those in need. And at home, I work every day to raise kind, thoughtful, and strong men. In every role, my mission is the same: to lead with heart, serve with purpose, and leave a legacy of love and positive change."
